Located in Portree Industrial Estate, off Dunvegan Road, we are based in a 17,500 sq. ft. modern purpose built store. Ample car parking is available for your convenience on the doorstep.

All our customers gain from the substantial cost savings we make as a result of our partnership with the Mica Hardware buying group. This partnership allows us to compete with the large city hardware multiples, both on the range of products we sell, and also on price.

Mica Hardware

All Mica stores are independently run and managed, with a major emphasis on providing outstanding customer care. The key advantage with Mica stores is that the owners are on the premises, and are able to keep close contact with customers and respond quickly to their needs.

The original 'Jansvans' business was established in Portree over 30 years ago by the Nicolson family, and has developed and expanded ever since. Today, it is one of the largest retail outlets in Skye, offering a range of products and services that is tailored to the needs of the community it serves.

Jans Mica Hardware has won the 'Mica Retailer of the Year 2006', and was the runner up in the small business category in the 'Highlands & Islands Business Awards 2004'.

Jans also supports local Charities & funding raising events.

Together with other fund raising activities this enables us to donate sizeable amounts to deserving causes in the community. (See below for a list of groups and charities supported over the last year by JANS).
